Montana Stone wants to start a new life on the Gulf Coast. She left her job as a crime analyst with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department after her father was murdered during a burglary, a burglary she believes she could have prevented, and moved to White Sands, Alabama.

In Robert's Requiem, the second book in the Montana Stone Gulf Coast series after Bound to Die, Tana looks into the disappearance of White Sands Police Officer Robert Gulliford, who vanishes after reporting a mysterious barge on the Intracoastal Waterway in White Sands. Tana steps in to check out Robert's report and becomes embroiled in the dangerous investigation.
